01The house
We build places to discover places.
Le Roi du Monde is an independent European house for the places, landscapes, architecture and culture that shape the continent — published as collections rather than listings.
Each collection is built the same way: public records read closely, organised by geography and century, and published so that anyone can trace where a fact came from. We document broadly. We recommend selectively.
02The world that is open
Le Roi du Château
Every château, documented.
Location, century, style, protection status and visiting information for châteaux and manor houses across Europe — drawn from public heritage records and held in one consistent archive.

04Remarkable Europe
Places worth knowing. Stories worth discovering.
A first handful of the discoveries this house is built to hold. Six places, six countries, four worlds — chosen rather than collected.

Château de Hautefort
A medieval fortress remade as a classical château, gutted by fire in 1968 and rebuilt from its own records.
Château
Villa Lante
A sixteenth-century water garden whose entire design is one stream, followed downhill from spring to fountain.
Jardin
Albarracín
A walled town the colour of the cliffs it stands on, protected as a whole rather than building by building.
Village

Kasteel de Haar
The largest castle in the Netherlands is barely a century old: a medieval ruin rebuilt by Pierre Cuypers, who moved a village to make room for the park.
Château

Spitz an der Donau
Riesling on the dry-stone terraces of the Singerriedel, above a bend of the Danube, on a slope that passes one in one.
Vin

Český Krumlov
A town wrapped twice by its own river, with a baroque theatre that still keeps its original stage machinery.

Not everything remarkable is famous. Not everything famous is remarkable.
05Explore Europe
From Atlantic estates to Alpine villages, Mediterranean gardens and Central European cities — Le Roi du Monde follows remarkable places across the continent, and files them the way they actually relate to one another.
The British Isles
Country houses, walled gardens, coast.
Atlantic Europe
Estuaries, granite, weather.
The Low Countries
Water, brick, civic order.
The Alps
Passes, valleys, high pasture.
Central Europe
Residences, spa towns, rivers.
The Italian Peninsula
Villas, terraces, hill towns.
The Iberian Peninsula
Fortified towns, gardens made for drought.
The Mediterranean
Islands, ports, olive terraces.
The Baltic
Manor houses, Hanseatic towns.
The Balkans
Monasteries, mountain villages.
Regions, not borders. Each one gathers what truly belongs together, across every world — and grows as the records reach it.
06Les Grands Tours
Journeys through Europe’s remarkable places, landscapes and stories.
A Grand Tour is not an itinerary sold by the day. It is one route read through several worlds of the house — the château explained by the village below it, the garden by the water that feeds it, the wine by the slope it grows on.
The Loire Renaissance
Ten leagues of river, and the century that decided what a French house should look like.
Château · Jardin · Village · Vin
The Flemish Masters
Cloth money, painted rooms, and the towns that stopped growing at exactly the right moment.
Patrimoine · Village · Château
The Douro Terraces
A river cut into steps by hand, and the quintas that hold the slope.
Vin · Village · Patrimoine
07Le Journal
The house keeps a voice as well as a record.
Le Journal is where the collections are read aloud — one place at a time, in the forms below. Now open with published essays and curated field readings.

04A common standard
What every world of the house has in common.
Documented
Structured information with the source of each fact identified and reachable.
Curated
Selection, not accumulation. The house documents broadly and recommends selectively.
Geographic
Places understood through regions, maps and the routes between them.
Connected
A château read with the village below it, the garden beside it, the slope behind it.
European
Built around European language, landscape, history and the way it is written about.

The remarkable rarely announces itself.
It is hidden in villages, landscapes, archives, buildings, gardens, roads and stories.
Le Roi du Monde exists to make those places easier to find — and easier to understand.
09Professional Network
Le Cercle du Roi
Uniting estate custodians with master artisans and heritage specialists.
Le Cercle du Roi is the dedicated professional network of the Le Roi du Monde ecosystem. It connects the custodians of Europe’s historic estates, châteaux, and gardens with master artisans, conservation workshops, and traditional shipwrights.
Founded to safeguard living savoir-faire, Le Cercle provides curated heritage professionals with direct introductions to estate proprietors, curatorial visibility across our regional publications, and an enduring forum for historic preservation.
